“A” Team requirements: (there will
be NO exceptions on the “A” team requirements except AGE)
Rider:
1. Must be able to sustain a lope for a minimum of 4 mins.
2.
Must have good equitation.
3.
Must have POSITIVE
ATTITUDE and WILLINGNESS TO WORK HARD. Must have 100% COMMITMENT.
4.
Must be able to ride left handed
ONLY. Flags will be carried on right side of horse.
5. Must be able to carry a flag in proper position for a minimum of 4 mins.
6.
Must be committed to practicing
on a weekly basis.
7. Must be at least 15 years of age to be considered. Exceptions will be considered based on rider/horse
pair ONLY. Previous experience also considered.
Horse:
1. Must be neck reined.
2. Must be in good physical condition.
3. Must be able to maintain a lope for a minimum of 4 mins.
4.
Must be able to carry a flag.
5.
Must be well extremely well mannered…no
kicking, biting, bucking, etc.
6. Must be well controlled and obedient.
7. No stallions, no drafties, no ponies.
8.
Must be a minimum 14H but not to
exceed 16H.
“A” team - Members will be required to purchase a practice
flag/pole (approx $15 + shipping), a flag holder ($11 + shipping) and custom chaps (approx $120). Show flags/poles will be
provided.
“B” Team Requirements: (exceptions will be considered)
1. Rider/horse must be able to sustain a lope/trot for a minimum
of 4 mins.
2. Rider must be at least 10 years of age. Parent will remain present during all practices/performances.
3.
Horse must be in good physical
condition.
4. Rider/horse must be a confident pair.
5. Horse must be well mannered…no kicking, biting, bucking, etc.
6.
No stallions, no drafties. Ponies
will be considered according to size and temperament.
“B” Team – Please let your
team captain know if you would like to carry a flag. Keep in mind your horse must neck rein in order for you to do this. Also,
if you wish to carry a flag you will be responsible for purchasing a practice flag, pole, and flag holder. Show flags and
poles will be provided by team.
Please declare
if you have a preference to ride on a particular team.
Additional
Information:
* Financially stable---costumes & travel are costly.
Drill can be very expensive!! You need to be aware of this from the start.
* Athletic, current on Coggins &
vaccinations.
* No stallions...NO EXCEPTIONS.
* If horse is gaited, it must lope…no exceptions!
THE EQUIPMENT
* Western saddle and tack
* Own transportation
THE COMMITMENT
* Year round weekend practices 1-2 times per month minimum (more
during performanceor rodeo month).
* Availability for local events, to include horse shows, parades, and
rodeos.
YOU MUST BE A TEAM PLAYER AND EXTREMELY COMMITTED TO THE TEAM. Although this is not a job, it should
become a priority when you become a team member.
